Katey Bacigalupi recently made that analogy after going to the Crushpad 2.0 Tasting in San Francisco where she met some of her twittering crowd for the first time.

Twitter is the technology that allows people to chat in real time.

“I had seen their profile photo and I had some exchanges with them,” Bacigalupi said.

“I went into a slight panic in trying to remember the specifics about them to carry on

a good conversation.”

Sweaty palms, nervous twitches? Not really, but you get the idea.

The 26-year old from Healdsburg said her latest fascination is following the people

behind VinTank, a digital think tank for the wine industry. “There’s so much that goes

on and twittering is like an instant message, what’s hot, what’s new – what’s the

latest new wine everyone’s raving about.”

For Bacigalupi, twittering is also a stream of consciousness communiqué.

She recently twittered, “Hey, does anyone do tweet deliveries – like pizzas?”

Why do you twitter? What’s the latest Twittering revelation? What’s new? What’s hot?
