With the New Year only 24 hours away, it’s time to fine=tune our resolutions.

But here’s a twist – how about making the unbreakable kind?

I’ve learned over the years to make workable resolutions, the ones that fit seamlessly in your life.

Here are a few that should work for you:

 # 1 Try something new … a new tasting room … a new vintage … a new varietal. You may find you fancy a varietal you couldn’t even pronounce a year ago like an Austrian Gruner Veltliner.

 # 2 Explore budget wines by befriending a wine-savvy retailer and picking his or her brain from time to time. You may be able to find a bottling that’s 50 percent off because the producer would prefer to sell his supply rather than pay for storage.

 # 3 Uncork a bottle with dinner more often. Be European. See wine as food. If you keep resolution #2, you’ll be able to afford it.

This New Year’s you can be carefree because you have a trio of unbreakable wine resolutions. All you need to be is resolute!
