In next week’s Wine of the Week grid in the newspaper, we’ll include alcohol levels of our wine picks.

There appears to be increasing interest in alcohol levels, whether it’s due to New Year’s and a means to diet (lower alcohol wines are less caloric) or a means to drink more without feeling the effects.

While we’re aware that there is some fudging going on with the amount listed, we will report the percentage by volume listed on the label. Just a heads up: There will be some instances when a percentage is not listed.

We know there’s debate about alcohol levels in general, so if anyone has a compelling reason why we should not publish the alcohol levels listed on the bottle of our wine picks, this is your chance to speak up.

We’d love to hear your opinion. Does alcohol level matter to you?
