For rose lovers, here’s a great one to kick off the spring season:

The newly released Quivira, 2009 Wine Creek Ranch, Dry Creek Valley Grenache Rose at $15. (13.8 percent alcohol.)

This dry rose has aromas and flavors of wild strawberry, watermelon and spice. It has crisp acidity and good balance. And, for a rose, it has some depth. (90 percent grenache and 10 percent mourvedre.)

If you’re roaming the backroads of Wine Country this spring, keep in mind that the Quivira is a great picnic sipper. Chill … uncork … and dive into spring.
