Bidding at the Sonoma Valley Harvest Wine Auction (Sept. 5) will no doubt spiral for the Sex and the City lot, put together by Santa Rosa’s St. Francis Winery.

Here’s the skinny: Four women will get two nights at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco and a date with a personal shopper at Bloomingdales. with a $4,000 spending budget. These women also will score a private dinner at the winery, likely with a hot dude (a leading actor) from the movie.  … mums the word on this. Privileged information. Stay tuned.

Another lot that will be sure to draw attention is Magnum Force, with a dance off, I’m told, between “beach babes and surfer chicks.” The loot? Twenty three magnums of Sonoma Valley wines.

This theme of this year’s auction is the “California Beach Party,” and the irreverent have been busy practicing their skits for the outlandish yearly ritual that pokes fun at everything and everyone in Wine Country. No one is safe from ridicule at this out-of-the-box auction.

The Taste of Sonoma Sept. 4, 11 a.m to 4 p.m. People will graze (and sip) their way though the Taste of Sonoma at MacMurray Ranch in Healdsburg.

The Sonoma Valley Harvest Wine Auction, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. Auction-goers will partake in the “California Beach Party” at Cline Cellars in Sonoma. Pre-auction festivities begin at 11 a.m.
