Weekend wines

There’s nothing like planning ahead, especially when it comes to palate prep.

So even before you finish your 80-hour work week, remind yourself you live in Wine Country where it’s protocol to peruse a great line-up of wine for uncorking:

Here are some great ones to kick off the weekend:

Foursight, 2009 Anderson Valley Dry Gewurztraminer, 14.1 percent, $20. A tasty dry gewürztraminer with notes of citrus, honey and rose petal. Balanced. Nice length.

Hess Collection Su’skol Napa Valley Chardonnay, 14.2 percent, $22. A fairly ripe chardonnay with notes of melon, pear, herbs, spice and a hint of caramel. Creamy texture with tropical flavors. Tasty

Saint Gregory, 2009 Mendocino Pinot Blanc, 13.5 percent, $15. A refreshing pinot blanc that’s light on its feet. Aromas and flavors of melon, honey and spice.  Crisp acidity. Nice texture.
