Roaming through Wine Country is intriguing when you’re privy to some tasty secrets. Here are a few …

1)      The cabernet at A. Rafanelli is under the radar but it’s as tasty as the zinfandel. Check it out. (Tasting is by appointment, 707-433-1385, 4685 W Dry Creek Rd. , Healdsburg.)

2)      In the cave at Bella Vineyards you can taste a new bottling called Ten Acre but this new pinot project of the owners is in limited quantity. Steal a sip while you can. (707-572-3552, 9711 West Dry Creek Rd, Healdsburg.)

3)      At Rodney Strong Vineyards, there’s a winery within a winery, a place where small-scale winemaking is taking place and these well-groomed wines are very tasty, thanks to winemaking consultant Dave Ramey. Be sure to ask for a pour of these single vineyard wines in the tasting room. (11455 Old Redwood Highway, Healdsburg.)
