In Wine Country, it’s Wine & Taxes.

Just a heads up about a clever winery event in the offing. There will be a Tax Relief Party at Dutton-Goldfield Winery in Sebastopol April 14 & 15, and this may well be the best way to gauge the economy yet. In Wine Country, vino is really the best barometer.

Last year the weekend event reeled in nearly 150 people and tasting room manager, Sarah Kelley, expects an even bigger crowd this year.

“Right now people are excited about the economy,” Kelley said. “It’s really taken a turn.”

Guests will be able to  sip, swirl and save as the winery picks up the sales tax on all wine purchases. There will be a standard flight of four wines, as well as a special cellar selection. The event is 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days, and the fee is $10 but it’s waived with a purchase. To reserve a spot, call 707-827-3600. The winery is at 3100 Gravenstein Hwy. North, Sebastopol.
