I was out at Williams Selyem on Saturday for its spring release party and I counted precocious palates — babies in swanky front packs and toddlers in the arms of serious sippers.

Max and Linda Meng, on the wineries mailing list, drove up from San Francisco to get their loot and to taste the latest releases. Their six-and-a-half-month old son Ethan was in Max’s front pack.

“We use the release party as an excuse to come up to Wine Country in the spring and the fall, and it’s never too early to introduce Ethan to wine,” Linda joked.

The Mengs said they’re on the mailing list of about 12 wineries. “We’re very loyal to brands that are consistent and we’ve never been disappointed with Williams Selyem.

It appears the Mengs are in good company. There continues to be an uptick in traffic on Westside Road in Dry Creek Valley today as people partake in another day of sipping and swirling the winery’s new releases.
